Annual Abendmusik Concert


The Sanctuary Choir of Fairfax Presbyterian Church will
present their annual Abendmusik concert of sacred choral music on Sunday, May 6, at 4:00 p.m. in the church
Sanctuary.  The concert is open to the public, and admission is free.  An offering will be received to support the music program of the church.

Fairfax Presbyterian Church is located The church is located at 10723 Main Street in Fairfax;  behind the Fairfax Medical Center at the end of Presbyterian Way off Main Street in Fairfax.  The Sanctuary is at the west end of the

The concert will include music by Felix Mendelssohn, Gabriel Fauré, Egil Hovland, Ernani Aguiar, Ludwig van Beethoven, and others.  A featured work will be a set of pieces entitled Sentences by Don Phillips of Franklin,
Kentucky. These are brief musical settings of texts from the Old Testament composed in Twentieth-Century style.

The Sanctuary Choir is conducted by Dr. Kenneth Martin and accompanied by Dr. Sanghwa Lee.  Erin Sanzero will be the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer.  A string quartet will augment the church’s 1978 Gress-Miles pipe organ in accompanying the Mendelssohn as well as the Hallelujah from Beethoven’s oratorio Christ on the
Mount of Olives
