The all-female cast of the Britches and Hose company would like to present our premiere performance of William Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra!" This is a free play, though donations are gladly accepted.
Premise: Marc Antony, of the Roman triumvirate, has abandoned his duties and his rather uanppealing wife to languish in the palace of his lover, the capricious and alluring Cleopatra. The ensuing conflict between him and the young Octavius Caesar escalates into a war that forces everyone concerned into the midst of an epic and irreversible tragedy.
A "Not Yet an Alexandrian Feast" Reception will be held afterward, featuring such Shakespeare-themed treats such as a "Midsummer's Night Cream Puff," "Two flavors both alike in dignity in Fairfax where we lay our scene" (Black and White cookies), and Lady Macbeth Fingers.
