Fairfax’s beloved “Children’s Concert,” brought to you by the City of Fairfax Band and sponsor Sandy Spring Bank, promises to be another big hit with families this year. The [free] event, held Thursday, July 12, at the Veteran’s Amphitheater outside City Hall, will kick off at 6:30 PM with an “Instrument Petting Zoo,” where children are invited and encouraged to touch and try instruments to learn more about making music. During this time, kids can enter to win a chance to conduct the band during the 7:30 PM concert! Free balloons, ice cream, and sponsor handouts guarantee smiles. John Lyon, delightful host and guitarist, will narrate the evening. Also, attendees have the chance to enter to win a free season pass to the City of Fairfax Band 2012-2013 season.
