ExxonMobil and Volunteer Fairfax Proudly Present the Community Summer Jobs Program Class of 2014
Internship Program Introduces College Students to Nonprofit Community

Release, Volunteer Fairfax:
Volunteer Fairfax congratulates ExxonMobil for generously funding--once again-- the Community Summer Jobs Programs (CSJP) providing local nonprofit agencies with grants designated to hire college students for summer internships in the DC Metro region. Every summer since 2000, ExxonMobil has sponsored the program which places college students in local agencies for 8-week paid positions. The successful student applicants are introduced to nonprofit organizations in the hope that they will consider careers, or volunteer leadership positions, in the nonprofit sector after graduation.
Volunteer Fairfax is the program administrator for ExxonMobil. Volunteer Fairfax acts as the face-to- face contact with the agencies and students. This role also includes review of agency and student applications, performing site visits, and planning group activities for the interns, including a Professional Development Seminar and a Group Community Service Project. The goal of these student activities is to establish a community within the program--a community that begun as interns will be the genesis of a professional network.

Says Teresa Nacario of Volunteer Fairfax, “The selection process is quite rigorous. The competitive nature of this program ensures that the CSJP interns are among the best and brightest at their respective colleges and universities. This is important because the CSJP interns are the participating agency’s best hope for providing the highest quality services to their constituencies for the summer season.”
CSJP interns provide their agencies with much-needed personnel power and high-energy enthusiasm! Internship job assignments vary from tutors to caseworkers, from public relations assistants to researchers.
