FACETS to Host MLK Day of Service to Help County’s Homeless
FACETS volunteers from Excella will help to beautify the Sojourn House in Fairfax on January 16.
From Creative Strategies: FACETS, a nonprofit that opens doors by helping those who suffer the effects of poverty in Fairfax County, is organizing MLK Day of Service events as part of its efforts to prevent and end homelessness. FACETS’ volunteers from Excella will help to beautify the Sojourn House, a group home for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and medical vulnerabilities.
Volunteers will be painting, doing light landscaping and providing homey touches to create a welcoming and therapeutic environment for the resident and staff spaces. Throughout the year, FACETS provides Sojourn House residents with on-site case management to address their needs as well as monitor their progress. In addition, Excella volunteers will be helping organize FACETS’ pantry that is used to provide non-perishable food, toiletries, household goods, and school supplies to clients.
When: January 16th, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
