Fairfax City Election Results: Northam Easily Trumps Gillespie

Fairfax City broke in a big way for ultimate winner Ralph Northam over Republican challenger Ed Gillespie. Check out other local races.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Suffice to say, the overwhelming majority of voters here aren't exactly Ed Gillespie fans. They roundly rejected the message from the Republican gubernatorial candidate and instead went with the Democrat, Ralph Northam, by 31 points. Northern received 5,374 of the city's votes to 2,821 for Gillespie.

Northam's overall margin over Gillespie was a surprisingly high nine points in a race that polls showed being considerably closer. Other results from Fairfax City:
