FAIRFAX CITY, VA — The first day of school for Fairfax City students is Aug. 26 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP.
City of Fairfax Schools has posted its 2019-20 calendar on the district website. The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, holidays, end of grading periods and parent-teacher conferences.

Aug. 26 – First day of school
Aug. 30-Sept. 2 - No school for Labor Day holiday

Oct. 14 – No school for students (school planning day/Columbus Day)
Nov. 1 – First quarter ends
Nov. 4-5 – No school for students
Nov. 27-29 – No school for Thanksgiving break
Dec. 23-Jan. 3 - No school for winter break (classes resume Jan. 6)
Jan. 20 – No school for students (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
Jan. 24 – Second quarter ends
Jan. 27-28 – No school for students
Feb. 17 – No school for students (Presidents’ Day)
March 3 – No school for students
April 3 – Third quarter ends
April 6-10 – No school for spring break
April 13 – No school for students (teacher workday)
May 25 – No school for students (Memorial Day)
June 12 – Last day of school (three-hour early release)
