Independence Day Fireworks Show Delayed Due To Shortage Of Licensed Pyrotechnicians

Due to a shortage of licensed pyrotechnicians, the evening fireworks show will be held on July 2 at Fairfax High School's Stalnaker Stadium.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. July 4 at 4100 Chain Bridge Road, rain or shine. The parade loops around Old Town Fairfax, along Chain Bridge Road, Main Street, University Drive, and Armstrong Street.

Among the entries in this year’s parade are nine high school marching bands, large inflatable parade balloons, floats, and clowns.

Due to a shortage of licensed pyrotechnicians, the evening show will be held on July 2 at Fairfax High School's Stalnaker Stadium. (Please note location update.)

No on-site parking will be available for the public, except for a limited number of accessible parking. We highly recommend using our shuttle service if you're planning to drive to the event. There will be fully accessible shuttle buses running between Fairfax High School and Woodson High School throughout the evening.

Additionally, Lion Run will be closed to traffic during the evening show.

On-stage entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. with rockin' music, a few parade awards — and, of course, the spectacular fireworks display after dark. Please note that the following items are not permitted in the spectator area: smoking, alcohol, and animals (except service animals).

The Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDCC) is selling commemorative 2023 Independence Day t-shirts.

The theme, "Peace, Love, and the 4th of July," was selected in autumn 2022.

T-shirts are available in red, white, and blue, in both youth sizes and adult sizes.

While supplies last, IDCC also is selling baseball hat for $10 each, as well as bucket hats ($20).

Please fill out the following order form or email FFXIDCC@gmail.com with what quantity, size and color shirt you would like to purchase.

Payment options include cash, credit, and checks made payable to IDCC.
