Fairfax Community Survey Results Complete

The results will be used to help develop a new draft vision statement for the city.

Results of a recent City of Fairfax community survey are complete and can be found here.

The survey solicited input on a wide variety of city related topics, and the results will be part of a new comprehensive plan.

Community input also will be solicited in August and September on a draft mission statement based on the results of the survey.

Only 4 percent of the respondents said they were very familiar with the plan, and 22 percent said they had never heard it. Too, 73 percent said they would prefer to learn more through emails or city alerts.

Among other findings in the survey:

* When asked what type of housing the city needs most, a majority, 25 percent, said single-family homes.

* As for what's most important, 47 percent said affordable housing.

* Asked which types of new housing developments should be a priority within a 10-minute walking distance of shopping centers in the city, a majority, 47 percent, said apartments or condominiums.

* Asked what type of businesses they'd like to see more of, 48 percent said grocery stories and 47 percent said restaurants.
