FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested 79-year-old Mazher Rajput of Fairfax on Friday in connection with fatal crash last month involving a motorcycle in the Fair Oaks area, according to a police release.

An investigation revealed that around 6:19 p.m., on Oct. 25, Rajput was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the northbound turn lane, waiting to turn left onto Ox Hill Road, when he failed to yield to a 2018 Yamaha MT07 motorcycle traveling southbound on West Ox Road, according to police.

As a result, the motorcycle, which was being operated by Andrew Dearing, struck the Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to police. The Jeep continued through the intersection, struck a pedestrian sign and collided with a 2013 Lexus GS350. After spinning around and striking the Lexus a second time, the Jeep came to a stop.

On Friday, police charged Rajput with failing to yield when turning left and failing to abide by a traffic light. He was issued two magistrate summons and is scheduled to appear in court in January.
