Fairfax Wegmans Shoppers Help Raise $15K For Food For Others
Fairfax Wegmans customers helped Food for Others receive $15,257 during the company's annual Fill the Bus campaign.
FAIRFAX, VA — Wegmans customers helped raise a record $769,300 during the grocery chain's annual Fill the Bus/Fill the Backpack campaign, with donations from the Fairfax store supporting Food for Others and its efforts to combat food insecurity in Northern Virginia.
The two-week campaign ran from June 3 through June 17 and invited customers to make donations at checkout. According to Wegmans, every dollar collected remains in the local community through partnerships with Feeding America food banks.
Customers across the company's stores donated $43,000 more than they did during last year's campaign.

The Fairfax nonprofit provides emergency food assistance and groceries to residents throughout Northern Virginia.
"Each year, our customers step up in an incredible way to support their neighbors, and their generosity continues to inspire us," Deana Percassi, Wegmans vice president of community engagement and communications, said in a statement.
The campaign helps food banks address increased demand during the summer months, when children who normally receive free or reduced-price school meals may need additional assistance. Funds support local food banks' summer feeding and backpack programs.
Across Virginia, customers supported 11 food assistance organizations, including Food for Others, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, Loudoun Hunger Relief, Capital Area Food Bank, FeedMore, SERVE, ACTS, Alive!, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and Eastern Shore, and Western Fairfax Christian Ministries.
Campaign Has Raised Millions
Since transitioning to a checkout donation campaign in 2021, Fill the Bus/Fill the Backpack has raised more than $3.5 million. Before that, customers donated more than 3.7 million pounds of food through traditional food drives between 2013 and 2019.
Wegmans also reported donating more than 36.8 million pounds of food to local food banks, food pantries and soup kitchens in 2025. Customers contributed an additional $4.7 million through the company's annual scan campaigns last year.
