86-Year-Old Fairfax Woman Killed in House Fire Started By Christmas Tree Lighting
An 86-year-old Fairfax woman was killed by a fire started in the ornamental lighting of a natural Christmas tree in her Mantua home.

FAIRFAX, VA — A house fire in the Mantua neighborhood that killed 86-year-old Crista Mensh on Dec. 26, 2022 originated in a natural Christmas tree and involved the incandescent ornament lighting, according to a post on Fairfax County Fire & Rescue's official Twitter account.
Fire investigators determined that the fire was accidental and caused $615,275 in damage Mensh's home in the 3500 block of Goodview Court.
