FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City Police warned the public to avoid the area of Fairfax Boulevard and Meredith Drive Monday morning due to a gas leak, according to a 9:58 a.m. post on the department's official Twitter account.

At 10:30 a.m., police reported that the roadway had been cleared.

Westbound Fairfax Boulevard was closed at Oak Street due to water service repairs.
