Giant at University Mall Shopping Center to Re-open Feb. 9 in Fairfax
The newly expanded and renovated grocery store should be a welcome sight to area residents and the George Mason University community.
FAIRFAX, VA — Having been shuttered the past couple of years for expansion and renovation that mirrored the extensive makeover of University Mall Shopping Center, the Giant grocery store announced its coming-out party Friday.
The grand re-opening is next Thursday, Feb. 9. Doors at the store, 10653 Braddock Road, will open at 9 a.m.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 6 p.m.

Among the features of the 49,000 square foot store:
- An enhanced deli department that includes a cheese table, a sushi bar and both hot and cold prepared food.
- Pick-point technology for the full-service pharmacy that will make it faster to pick up prescriptions.
- Hand-held self-scanning devices.
- A full-service Starbucks cafe.
Definitive plans to renovate the shopping center began in 2011.
