GotSneakers Program: Help Local Nonprofit As Well AS Environment

Assistance League Partnering To Collect Gently Worn or New Athletic Shoes To Support Children's Programs

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is excited to announce that it has launched a partnership with GotSneakers to collect sneakers to raise funds for its philanthropic programs. GotSneakers has developed a social enterprise that compensates charitable organizations based on the quantity and condition of the athletic shoes they collect. Gently worn and new athletic shoes will be provided to people who would otherwise lack access to affordable footwear. Sneakers that are determined to be unsuitable for that purpose will be recycled for use in paving materials to resurface playgrounds and tracks. Everyone can help simply by donating their sneakers. Your donation will reap triple rewards, at no cost to you! You will help Assistance League raise funds for children and families in need in our community, you’ll help those who want quality athletic shoes, and you will also keep sneakers out of landfills and improve the environment. Win-win-win!!!

Assistance League currently has seven volunteers in areas throughout Northern Virginia who are collecting sneakers for the chapter. If you have sneakers to donate, simply send an email message to the volunteer who is closest to you, and you’ll receive a reply providing the address of the drop box. Those areas and the related email addresses are: Burke: burke@alnv.org; Chantilly/Fairfax: fairfax.chantilly@alnv.org; Fairfax: Fairfax@alnv.org; Herndon: herndon@alnv.org; Oakton: oakton@alnv.org; Oak Hill: oakhill@alnv.org; and Springfield: springfield@alnv.org.

Assistance League also seeks the help of additional individuals and businesses to collect sneakers for the chapter. The charity will provide the collection bags and when filled, the bags can be shipped from FedEx, at no cost to you. If you would like to help with this campaign, please contact: Fairfax.chantilly@alnv.org.
