Gunshots Over 4 Nights In Fairfax Investigated By City, County Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police and Fairfax County Police responded to the report of gunshots being heard over four recent nights in the area of Arlington Boulevard and Pickett Road near the Gerry Connolly Cross-County Trail.

The sound of gunshots were reported Wednesday-Friday, June 5-7 and Monday, June 11, according to police. No injuries have been reported.

On Thursday, Patch reached out by email to both police departments asking for more information about the incidents and whether there was any danger to the public.

"Between 6/6 and 6/10, officers from the Mason District Station responded to the area of Mantua Park on several occasions for reports of the sound of gunshots or fireworks," FCPD Public Affairs Bureau said, in an email. "Officers checked the surrounding areas. No evidence of gunfire or fireworks were located."

"It is still an active investigation, so I cannot comment on it as of now," said Sgt. James Lewis, a spokesman for the Fairfax City Police.

In that area, the Gerry Connolly Trail runs from Fairfax City into Mantua Park, which is located on city-county border south of Fairfax Boulevard/Arlington Boulevard.
