Happy 175th Birthday, City of Fairfax
On Feb. 16, 1892, the Town of Fairfax was incorporated. Before then, it had been known as Fairfax Courthouse because of its landmark.
FAIRFAX, VA — The city marked a milestone birthday last week. Namely, the Town of Fairfax was incorporated 175 years ago, on Feb. 16, 1892.
Before then, the area was known as Fairfax Courthouse.
And before that, it was founded in 1805 as the Town of Providence.

On June 17, the city will join Fairfax County in celebrating the area's 275th anniversary at the historic courthouse in Fairfax.
