Inmate Death At Fairfax County Detention Center Investigated: Police

FAIRFAX, VA — Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department are investigating the death of an inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Saturday night.

Around 10:22 p.m., 37-year-old John Boos of Fairfax Station was found unresponsive inside his single cell at the jail, according to authorities. Deputies from the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office began performing life-saving measures, until they were relieved by emergency medical personnel.

Boos was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. Currently, no foul play is suspected, police said.

Boos was being held after being arrested for an incident that occured on Aug. 30, according to court records. He was facing two counts of assault and battery of a familiy member and two counts of felony strangulation or suffocation of another. He was scheduled to appear Oct. 22 for a hearing in Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
