Chang, Dickson, Stombres Among Donors To Jessica Lough's Council Campaign

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City Council candidate Jessica Lough raised $3,270.74 through Aug. 31, with fellow council candidate Steve Chang, local businessman Rick Dickson and former Fairfax City Mayor Steve Stombres among her largest contributors, according to campaign finance reports.

Lough's campaign reported $995.72 in contributions during the latest reporting period, from July 24 through Aug. 31. The campaign spent $2,133.31 during that period and finished August with $769.09 in cash.

Lough also reported $215.89 in loans from herself during the latest period, leaving the campaign with $215.89 in outstanding debt as of Aug. 31.

Chang, Dickson, Stombres Among Contributors

Lough launched her campaign in June as an independent candidate for Fairfax City Council.

Her amended first campaign finance report, covering June 12-30, showed $1,225.02 in contributions. Jill Corrigan contributed $500 and Sara Colangelo contributed $300. Another $120 came from two contributions of $100 or less.

Lough provided $305.02 in in-kind contributions during that period for campaign expenses including a website, business cards, parade chalk and banners.

From July 1 through July 23, the campaign raised another $1,050. Chang contributed $500, and Rick Dickson, owner of The Dickson Company, contributed $500. One contribution of $100 or less added another $50.

Lough's latest report showed $995.72 in contributions. Stombres, a former Fairfax City mayor, contributed $500, while Carol William contributed $200. Two contributions of $100 or less totaled another $200.

Lough also made a $95.72 in-kind contribution for campaign T-shirts.

Combined, the three reports show $3,270.74 in contributions since Lough began her campaign in June. That includes $400.74 in in-kind contributions from Lough herself.

Campaign Spending Accelerates In August

Lough's spending increased significantly during the latest reporting period as the campaign purchased signs, door hangers, advertising and other materials.

The campaign paid Executive Press $903.57 for door hangers and $353.13 for yard signs. It also paid $300 to Commonwealth Brewing Company Fairfax as an event deposit, $265 to The Independent News Press for a quarter-page advertisement and $148.19 to S&J Printing for rack cards. The Independent News Press is a Fairfax-based publication whose CEO and majority owner is fellow City Council candidate Steve Chang.

Other expenses included website costs and event fliers.

The campaign reported $2,717.54 in total disbursements since its formation and $769.09 remaining at the end of August.

Lough personally advanced the campaign $215.89 during the latest period to cover three expenses. Those advances were reported as loans and remained outstanding at the end of the reporting period.

Her campaign finance reports show no contributions exceeding $500 through Aug. 31.
