Surviving a heart attack decreases by 7-10 percent for every minute that passes before help arrives. PulsePoint crowdsources community members to help respond to heart attack victims before emergency medical services arrive. When the 911 system is notified of someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, the app sends an alert to people in the network who are within a quarter mile of the incident – think of it as an Amber Alert for heart attack victims.
PulsePoint only notifies residents of incidents in public places, such as shopping centers, gyms, restaurants, etc., where their efforts to provide CPR and utilize an AED could help save a life. If emergency responders arrive first, a cancellation message will be sent saying services are no longer needed.
“It has long been publicized that working smoke detectors greatly increases your chance of exiting your home safely and surviving a fire. The same holds true for learning CPR and early access to AEDs,” said Chief O’Neal. “Early notification, access to AEDs, and early initiation of CPR can save lives.”
Consider downloading PulsePoint because the impact it can make on the lives of our community is so great. PulsePoint is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
