Assistance League of Northern Virginia is always looking for caring people to help those most in need in the community. The nonprofit has scheduled several events at local libraries to share information about the organization with community members.

The first event will be held at the Chantilly Library, 4000 Stringfellow Rd., Chantilly on Wednesday, March 30, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Join members there for an informal information session and learn how you can get involved and help.

For more than 18 years, Assistance League, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, has supported the most vulnerable in the area, especially elementary school students and their families, and new mothers. Through its primary programs -- Weekend Food for Kids, New Clothing for Kids, Literacy for Kids, and Operation Hugs -- the charity feeds, clothes, educates and comforts the most vulnerable in Northern Virginia. The organization needs members to carry out those programs and to help with the many behind-the-scenes tasks that are necessary to ensure that it is serving those who most need help.
