Man With Knife Arrested For Assault At Main Street Property: Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police arrested a man for assault on Dec. 6, after receiving the report of a man with a knife being at a property from which he had previously been barred, according to the weekly crime report.

Officers responded around 3:58 p.m., to the 9600 block of Main Street and made contact with the person who had made the report. Police learned that the man in question had been seen on the property with a knife sticking out from under his sleeve. When they confronted the man, he waved the the knife in the air, according to the report.

Police determined that the man had previously been trespassed from the property and was intoxicated. After locating the man, the officers confirmed that he was in possession of a knife and took him into custody. No injuries were reported.

The officers took 64-year-old Jeffrey Goncz of no fixed address to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. They charged him with trespass, drunk in public, and assault, according to the report. Goncz remained in the detention center on a $1,500 secured bond until he was sober.
