Man Seeking Handouts Arrested in Fairfax: Police

Armed with a sign asking for money, according to Fairfax Police, he violated a law prohibiting such actions on a public roadway.

FAIRFAX, VA — Back and forth in the road he ran, holding a sign asking for money.

No law against that, right?

Wrong, according to Fairfax Police.

That's what Kambiz Bahamin, 33, of no fixed address, discovered early Monday night at the intersection of Main Street and Pickett Road.

Shortly before 5 p.m., an officer observed him receiving money from an occupant of a vehicle stopped at the traffic signal.

And that's a no-no. Bahamin was arrested and charged with soliciting contributions in the roadway and released on a summons.

In this case, Fairfax law — mirroring state regulations — is clear.

Fairfax Boulevard / Draper Drive – On March 17 at 1:14 AM an officer who had conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding determined that the driver was intoxicated. Frankie Maurice Craddock, 22, of 9819 Pebble Weigh Court, Burke, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
