Man Killed In Crash With Fairfax Co. Police Cruiser
Eastbound Braddock Road was closed Friday afternoon near George Mason University's western campus in Fairfax due to a crash investigation.

FAIRFAX, VA — A 56-year-old man was killed Friday afternoon following a four-vehicle crash involving a Fairfax County police cruiser on Braddock Road just south of the western campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, according to authorities.
Shortly after 1 p.m., officers responded to the report of a multiple-vehicle crash near the intersection of Braddock Road and Campus Drive, according to Capt. Jessie Katzman, an FCPD spokesman.
"When our officers arrived on scene, they located a four-vehicle crash," he said. "There is one black vehicle that would be the fourth. That driver is a 56-year-old male who is deceased. What we also know currently is that we have one police officer who was involved in the crash."

A preliminary investigation revealed that three vehicles were stopped for a red light, with the police officer in the third vehicle.
"A witness had noted that the fourth vehicle, the striking vehicle, had erratic driving behavior, and was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck our officer in the rear," Katzman said. "Our officer was then pushed into the other two vehicles in front of him. What we know is that there were no other occupants in the vehicles, that each vehicle was only one single driver. Everyone involved in the crash is an adult."
