Mom's Beach Embrace of 3-Year-Old With Cancer Goes Viral
Question about favorite vacation memory receives powerful image of a Virginia mother's love.
The Today Show asked it's Facebook followers last week to share their favorite vacation memory, and Ariane Grabill's has lit up Facebook.
Grabill, of Midlothian, Va., shared a picture of herself on the beach, holding her 3-year-old son, Aiden, soon after his latest round of chemotherapy.
"It was just what the doctor ordered," she wrote of the vacation.
The next day, the Today Show shared the photo as part of it's #100HappyDays feature, where it has received 62,000 "likes" on Facebook. Local affiliate NBC12 picked up the story and shared the photo, receiving more than 76,000 "likes" on Facebook.
"It's so cliche to say, but so true. It puts in perspective the things that are important and the things that are not," Aiden's father, Zach Grabill told NBC12.
The station reports that Aiden is healthy and recently celebrated his fifth birthday. Zach Grabill is on the board of the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation in Richmond.
