Northern Virginia Weather: Let's Play Some Baseball

STERLING, VA — A fabulous Wednesday is in the offing, according to the local branch of the National Weather Service, with highs flirting around 70 degrees and light winds.

Thursday's a different story, though, with a 90 percent chance of rain.

As of now, however, the weekend looks pretty solid.

Here's the latest NWS forecast:

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 8 to 13 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 70. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9pm and 3am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 53. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 67. Southeast wind 9 to 11 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers. Low around 44. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 64.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.
