Northern Virginia Weather: Of Watering the Lawn

STERLING, VA — Springtime sunshine is about to take a relatively brief hiatus, according to the area representative of the National Weather Service.

Clouds begin to roll in Thursday and pretty much will stick around until Sunday.

Meanwhile, look for the next several days to be on the soggy side.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Rain, mainly after 3am. Low around 44. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday: Rain. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 59. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Rain before 9pm, then showers likely after 9pm. Low around 47. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Saturday: Showers likely before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61.
