Expect Overnight Ramp And Lane Closures Next Week Near I-66/1-495 Interchange
Travelers can expect ramp and road closures around the I-66/I-495 interchange during overnight hours next week due to beam work.

FAIRFAX, VA — Motorists planning to travel in Fairfax County late at night next week may want to avoid the I-66/I-495 interchange. The nightly closures will allow crews to install beams for the new flyover ramp from I-495 to I-66 West.
Motorists can expect to encounter lane and ramp closures, as well as traffic stoppages, during overnight hours next week on I-66 at I-495, as part of the Virginia Department of Transportation's ongoing Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
VDOT work crews will be closing all lanes of I-66 East over I-495 during overnight hours — 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. — on Monday through Thursday each night.. Traffic will be diverted using I-495 North and Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East.

Additional nightly closures will include the ramps from I-495 North to I-66 East, I-495 North to I-66 West, and the 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 East.

- From 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, two lanes of I-66 East approaching I-495 North will be closed.
- I-66 East will be closed over I-495 North from 10:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. nightly.
- Eastbound traffic on I-66 will be detoured to I-495 North. Motorists will exit at Route 7 East and follow signs back to I-66 East.

The ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. every night. Traffic will be directed to exit to Route 7 West and follow the signs back to I-66 West.
From 9 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each night, the ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East will be closed nightly. Traffic will be detoured to Route 7 East where signs will direct them back to I-66 East.

In addition, the 495 Express Lanes North ramp to I-66 East will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. each night. Message boards will direct motorists to alternate routes.
All closures are weather dependent and roadwork may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.
