Photos: Fairfax Little League Marches in New Season

Kicks April with an opening day parade and ceremony.

Fairfax Little League escorted spring into Fairfax City on Saturday with a parade, ceremony and first game of the season.

The little leaguers marched down McLean Avenue and Lee Highway, concluding at Chilcott Stadium. Players, coaches and family members gathered for a short ceremony, raising the American and Little League flags and reciting the league pledge.

The first pitch of the season was thrown out following the opening ceremony, and the season began with a game between Challenger Division teams the Orioles and Yankees. The Challenger Division is sponsored by American Legion Post 177.

FXLL sponsor, American Legion Riders, joined local, state, and federal government officials as well as the Potomac National's Uncle Slam on the chilly parade route filled with smiling supporters.
