Fairfax City Police are advising the public to avoid a section of Fairfax Boulevard due to a potential car event on Tuesday night.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — If you're out and about in Fairfax City Tuesday night, you might want to avoid a section of the main east/west thoroughfare.
City of Fairfax Police are advising the public to avoid the 10700 block of Fairfax Boulevard from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday due to a "potential car event gathering," according to a 4:31 p.m. post on the department's official Twitter account.
A police spokesman said the department learned about the potential gathering Tuesday afternoon. The Twitter post was meant as an advisory, especially for people traveling through the city during the evening rush hour, that there may be more cars on that stretch of road than usual.

The stretch of road covering the 10700 block of Fairfax Boulevard includes the Shops at Fairfax, the McDonald's at the corner of Oak Street and the Paul VI Development, which is currently under construction.
