Police: Boy, 2, Fighting for Life After Pool Accident

He was found at bottom of pool at Pirate's Cove, say Fairfax County police.

A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital after an accident Sunday at a waterpark in Lorton.

Fairfax County police are investigating the incident, at the Pirate’s Cove Waterpark in Pohick Bay Regional Park, on the Potomac River.

At 5 p.m. Sunday, swimmers were getting out of a pool due to lightning in the area when the boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool, the police said.

Officers with the Marine Patrol Unit were summoned to the pool and immediately began chest compressions on the boy. Personnel from the county fire department quickly arrived and continued CPR on the child before he was taken to the hospital.
