Police: Fight at Homeless Shelter Results in Arrest
Alexandria man gets charged with assault and battery, say Fairfax City police.

An Alexandria man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly struck another man Saturday at a local homeless shelter.
Fairfax City police officers responded at 12:38 p.m.to the report of an assault at The Lamb Center, at 3220 Old Lee Highway. They were told by the 58-year-old victim that he had been punched in the head by another man, causing him to fall to the ground, according to a police report.

The officers arrested William Joseph Parker, 48, of 8639 Beekman Place, Alexandria, and took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with assault and battery. His bond was set at $2,500.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, the police said.
