Police Report Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Fairfax

Fairfax man, 32, walked into the roadway on West Ox Road Monday night and was hit by a car. The driver stayed at the scene.

A Fairfax man has died after he was hit by a car Monday night on West Ox Road, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police responded to the area of West Ox Road and Polo Drive shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday for the report that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. Officers located the scene and began their investigation; Crash Reconstruction detectives were summoned.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old man had walked eastbound from the grassy median, onto the northbound lanes of West Ox Road; not in a crosswalk. At that time, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a 50-year-old Alexandria man was traveling northbound on West Ox Road just north of Polo Drive. The Malibu struck the pedestrian as he walked into the roadway. The driver of the Malibu remained on the scene.

The man, Brener Omar Llamas Rivera , of Summit Manor Drive in Fairfax, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Speed and alcohol were not factors for the driver of the Malibu. It has not yet been determined if alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian.
