9 Providence District Arts Groups Win ArtsFairfax Operating Grants

PROVIDENCE, VA — Nine arts organizations in the Providence District are among 65 groups receiving a combined $601,900 in fiscal year 2027 Operating Support Grants from ArtsFairfax.

The Providence recipients are 1st Stage, Cappies of the National Capital Area, the Iranian-American Community Center-Pars Place, Mosaic Harmony, Traveling Players Ensemble, Vienna Choral Society, Vienna-Falls Chorus, Virginia Chamber Orchestra and Washington West International Film Festival.

ArtsFairfax said the countywide allocation is $10,000 more than the amount awarded through the Operating Support Grant program in fiscal year 2026. Nine more organizations are receiving grants this year.

Operating Support Grants help cover the basic operations of local nonprofit arts organizations. This year’s recipients represent all nine Fairfax County magisterial districts, along with the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church.

The 65 recipients include 31 small organizations with budgets below $100,000 and 34 medium or large organizations with budgets exceeding $100,000. Four organizations are receiving an ArtsFairfax grant for the first time.

“Successful ArtsFairfax fundraising has enabled us to increase grants funding to local arts nonprofits,” ArtsFairfax President and CEO Stuart Holt said in the announcement. “We are committed to raising funds that can be redistributed to arts organizations throughout the County, even while operating on an extremely lean budget.”

ArtsFairfax reported an increase in applications and requested funding compared with the previous fiscal year. Organizations requested more than $1.4 million, an increase of more than $215,000 from fiscal year 2026.

The nonprofit plans to distribute $816,900 through all of its grant programs in fiscal year 2027. The remaining funding includes $170,000 for Project Support Grants to be awarded in the fall and $40,000 for Ticket and Participation Subsidy Grants. The subsidy grants will remain available through June 30, 2027, or until the funding is depleted.
