Rain Delays Completion of Connector Trail

Trail will connect existing Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail in Towers Park with improvements by VDOT at Vaden Drive and Lee Highway.

Rain has delayed the completion of 425 linear feet of ADA-accessible asphalt trail in Fairfax, according to Fairfax County.

When finished, the trail will connect the existing Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail in Towers Park with the pedestrian improvements to be completed by the Virginia Department of Transportation at the intersection of Vaden Drive and Lee Highway.

The trail is now expected to open for public use by mid-to-late June 2016.

Residents and trail users should still expect occasional construction traffic entering and exiting the site from the curb cut at the trailhead on Lee Highway. Trail users can expect occasional inconveniences when trucks or equipment are entering or exiting the site.

The $201,500 project is designed to significantly improve pedestrian safety. It is funded by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation.
