New Traffic Pattern, Detour At Route 123/I-66 Interchange Extends Through March
Virginia Department of Transportation closed a ramp at the Route 123/I-66 Interchange north of the City of Fairfax and south of Oakton.

FAIRFAX, VA — Drivers heading south on Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) from Oakton will encounter a new traffic pattern when they attempt to access I-66 West.
The Virginia Department of Transportation closed the righthand ramp on Tuesday that allowed drivers coming from Oakton to access I-66 West.
Southbound drivers are now being directed to take a left-hand turn at the light just beyond the closed ramp in order to join northbound traffic from the City of Fairfax onto the ramp that loops onto I-66 West. This detour is expected to last through March 2022.
