Schools, Government Offices In Fairfax Modify Hours On Tuesday
Fairfax County Public Schools and government offices will be operating on modified schedules on Tuesday due to inclement weather.
FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County Public Schools and central offices will be closed on Tuesday due to inclement weather. Government offices in Fairfax County and Fairfax City will be opening two hours late on Tuesday.
Emergency service personnel in Fairfax County should report as scheduled and essential employees in Fairfax City are required to report on time. Unscheduled leave/telework is authorized for non-essential employees in both city and county offices.
Fairfax Connector will operate on Saturday Service on Tuesday.

Some programs and locations may be impacted for various reasons. General District Court will also open on a two-hour delay. To find specific department status updates, including courts and schools, visit fairfaxcounty.gov/status.
In Fairfax City, Sherwood Center, Green Acres Center, Old Town Hall all open at 10 a.m.

- Recreation programs that begin before 10 a.m. are canceled or delayed.
- Little School Preschool is closed.
- Sherwood Before and After School is closed.

In the Town of Herndon, all Parks & Recreation classes scheduled before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, are cancelled. A decision about afternoon and evening classes will be made by 1 p.m.
Reston Association offices were also closed on Tuesday. If weather permits, they will reopen on Wednesday.
In the Town of Vienna, Parks and Recreation classes and programs scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled until 1 p.m. at the Community Center and Bowman House.
Essential town employees needed to help with the weather-related issues must report as scheduled. Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential Town employees.
Fairfax County Public Schools
Fairfax County public schools and central offices will be closed on Tuesday. The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:
- extracurricular activities
- interscholastic contests
- team practices
- field trips
- middle school after-school programs
- professional learning and training courses
- recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
- Adult and Community Education (ACE) classes.
- Adult High School and GED
- School age child care (SACC) centers are closed
Homebound and home-based instruction are canceled.
Employees designated as essential personnel shall follow supervisor direction. Emergency administrative leave is authorized for all other personnel.
