My fellow Patch Readers... it is not often that I find myself in a position to write such an AWFUL review of a restaurant... but please read on regarding my dining experience at the Sea Pearl yesterday! I waited a day to write this posting as I thought I might calm down!
I organized a luncheon for a coworker who was leaving my company on 6/18/2013. I made a reservation for 22 people.
We enjoyed a lovely meal and THEN I was told we were not able to have separate checks (OK, I understand. This is typical policy) but in addition to no separate checks - the waitress explains that our party who had just spent close to $400 dollars on food was limited to 8 credit card transactions!! Of course, as the luncheon orchestrator I was taken off guard and asked to speak with the manager.
It was at this point that the "Manager" who I understand now was the Owner comes to the table. She insists that we use 8 or fewer credit cards. I explain that I do not know if this is possible and ask for another solution to the problem if there are more than 8 credit cards used (reiterating that I was not notified when I made the reservation or when our party of 22 were seated of this policy). She tells me to figure it out, not her problem - only 8 credit cards. I then request to speak with her manager and she tells me she IS the manager. I said, OK how about the Owner. (In my mind, I cannot imagine an OWNER who does not understand this is a SERVICE industry and that the "customer" is always right - payment in any way should have been accepted). She says she is the owner and I question her. At this point, the OWNER of this establishment BERATES me in front of my coworkers, my boss, my Senior Vice President etc. She SCREAMS at me for a good five minutes about "why don't I think she is the owner, is it due to her clothing choice etc." I could not get a word in edgewise. She continues to yell at me - she tells me that I need to pay in cash, to GET OUT and NEVER return to her establishment again! I have never been treated in such a poor manner in my life.
This owner need not worry because I will NEVER return to her establishment to be treated so poorly ever again! The intent of writing this posting is to ensure that others understand the Sea Pearl's policy and do not "question" the owner so that you do not share my embarassing fate!
