Witnesses Come To Aid Of Woman Being Sexually Assault On Main Street Wednesday

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police charged a man in connection with a Wednesday afternoon sexual assault on Main Street, according to the daily crime bulletin.

Around 1:38 p.m., officers responded to the 9700 block of Main Street for the report of a sexual assault. A police report said the victim was approached by an unknown man who shoved her to the ground and started to sexually assault her. The victim fought back and witnesses came to her assistance, which caused the man to run off.

Police searched the area and located the man at a nearby shopping center. They arrested Raymond W. Braxton, 30, of no fixed address, charging him with aggravated sexual battery and abduction by force.

Braxton was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital to be treated for minor injuries he suffered from the victim defending herself. Once he was treated and released, police took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
