Shooting On I-495 In Fairfax Investigated By Virginia State Police
Virginia State Police are investigating reports of someone shooting at other vehicles on northbound I-495 in Fairfax early Sunday evening.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday evening on the Capital Beltway/I-495 in Fairfax County, according to a release.
VSP troopers responded around 5:10 p.m., for the report of someone in a van traveling northbound on I-495 near the exit for Little River Turnpike/Route 236 shooting at other vehicles.
Although one vehicle was struck by a bullet, no one was injured, according to police. The van continued northbound without stopping, police say.

In order to search for shell casings and other potential evidence, troopers shut down all northbound lanes of I-495, including the express lanes, and detoured vehicles to the Route 236 service lane, according to a 7:26 p.m. post on the Virginia Department of Transportation's official Twitter account. All lanes reopened around 8 p.m.
