Updated: Gunshots Reported Near Katherine Hanley Family Shelter

Updated (March 12, 4 p.m.): Fairfax County Police reported that all parties involved in the incident have been accounted for, according to a 3:32 p.m. post on FCPD's Twitter account. Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and there is no apparent ongoing threat to the public.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County Police were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. on Friday to the 12900 block of Katherine Hanley Court for the report of gunshots, according to a FCPD spokesman. No injuries have been reported.

"Officers remain in the area investigating the report of gunshots and ask community members to avoid the area," the spokesman said, in an email. "We will provide updates to the community as we continue to investigate."

The only buildings located on Katherine Hanley Court are part of the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter. Police have not yet confirmed if the incident under investigation occurred at the shelter or on shelter grounds.
