Solarize Fairfax Campaign Underway

If you've ever thought about going solar, as it were, this is a pretty good time to take proactive steps, as Fairfax has a "Solarize" deal.

FAIRFAX, VA — If you've ever thought about going solar, as it were, this is a pretty good time of the year to take proactive steps. Fairfax is holding what it calls "Solarize City of Fairfax Campaign," and it runs through June 30.

Information will be available at a couple of community meetings for tips and advice on how residents might make a shift to things such as, say, solar panels on their homes. In its effort, the city is working with the non-profit Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission.

• More Affordable than Ever: With a federal income tax credit of 30%, a bulk discount rate of 15-18% and the prices of solar equipment dropping drastically over the last several years, going solar is more affordable than ever.
• Head Off Rising Energy Costs: Energy rates are rising 2 percent annually. Solar customers regularly see an 8 percent or better return on investment.
