Stopped School Bus Enforcement Crackdown: Fairfax Police
Fairfax City Schools begin Sept. 6, and police will step up enforcement around stopped buses.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Schools open Sept. 6, and Fairfax Police say they will step up enforcement of laws pertaining to school buses.
In particular, police urge drivers to pay close attention to stopped school buses while driving.
Special attention is urged for the bus stops in the areas of Chain Bridge Road and Providence Way, Main Street near Tedrich Boulevard, and the Old Lee Highway corridor. Portions of those particular areas have two-way traffic on an undivided highway.

All drivers traveling in all directions must stop for stopped school buses on undivided highways that are discharging passengers.
Drivers on divided highways with medians and other physical barriers are not required to stop if the school bus is on the other side of the roadway. However, drivers are advised to remain alert for young pedestrians discharging from any bus from any direction.
