String Of Suspicious Incidents Under Investigation By City Police

City of Fairfax Police are investigating a series of suspicious incidents, including a vehicle being stolen from a local driveway.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police are investigating the theft of an automobile from the driveway of a city home and several other suspicious incidents involving vehicles that occurred early Wednesday morning, according to the daily crime report.

An officer responded around 4:53 a.m., on Wednesday, to the 4200 block of Ardmore Place for the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told the officer he was warming up the vehicle in his driveway, with the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating this incident.

At about the same time, police responded to the report of a vehicle tampering at another home in the 4200 block of Ardmore Place. The owner told the responding officer that during the night, someone had rummaged through two vehicles but nothing was taken. Both of the vehicles were unlocked.

Police returned around 5:22 a.m., to the same block of Ardmore Place for another report of a vehicle tampering. The victim said that someone had been rummaging through her vehicle during the night, but no items were reported missing. The vehicle had been unlocked.

The Patrol Division is investigating this incident, as well as three other incidents that took place early Wednesday morning in the city.

Around 5:29 a.m., a city resident reported seeing two men with flashlights looking inside vehicles parked in the 10600 block of Maple Street. The two men fled the area.

Later, an officer responded to a report from a homeowner about suspicious activity in the 4100 block of Addison Road. The homeowner told the officer that her motion camera was activated around 4:25 a.m. The camera showed two men looking into her vehicle, which was unlocked at the time. Nothing was taken.

Another city resident contacted police around 9:40 a.m., to report vehicle tampering in the 10200 block of Forrest Avenue. The victim told the officer that someone had rummaged through his wife's unlocked vehicle and also had tried to gain access to his vehicle.

City of Fairfax Police did not reply to Patch's requests for a comment for this story.
