Support Vulnerable Children With A Giving Tuesday Contribution

Help Fund Assistance League Programs For Low Income Families

Poverty is all around us, if we take the time to see it. Sizable numbers of struggling families live in our community, despite the wealth of Northern Virginia. The philanthropic programs of Assistance League of Northern Virginia help students at public schools and their families in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the City of Alexandria, where between 60% and 95% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Assistance League provides the basic necessities: weekend food, new clothing, new books, and literacy support to students at nine schools. To pay for those programs, the nonprofit relies on its own fund-raising efforts, such as the Giving Tuesday campaign, grants, and community support, so it can continue to provide those essential items to elementary school students and their families.

The need is great, and the impact of these efforts is immeasurable. One counselor made that point quite poignantly recently, in her comments after Assistance League delivered the school’s monthly allocation of Weekend Food for Kids food bags, as well as winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves: We are trying to keep them safe and loved. THANK YOU for keeping them warm and with happy tummies! Not enough words to acknowledge the difference you help us make on our students AND their families.

With your help, Assistance League can make an even bigger difference in the lives of local children. Participate in GivingTuesday’s global generosity movement and contribute! Please scan the QR code on the flyer or visit: https://www.mightycause.com/organization/Assistance-League-Of-Northern-Virginia to make your donation. Giving Tuesday is November 29, but you can contribute right now.
