Thief Rewarded With Gift Card At Marshalls In Fairfax
A woman who went into a Marshalls store, chose a few items and then tried to "return" them was given a gift card: Fairfax Police

FAIRFAX, VA — So a woman walks into the Marshalls department store last Thursday at 9649 Main Street and selects several items, according to Fairfax Police. She takes them to check-out line and, well, doesn't pay for them. Instead, she tells the cashier she lost her receipt, and the cashier gives her a gift card in the amount of the items.

11001 Lee Highway / Aldi – On October 3 at 7:56 PM the victim reported that sometime after 7:15 PM unknown person(s) had stolen his Galaxy cell phone which he had inadvertently left unattended on a counter in the bagging area.

3400 Block of Pickett Road – On October 6 at 11:51 PM an officer investigating damage to a bus stop sign determined it had been struck by a vehicle which was subsequently located in the area and its driver determined to be intoxicated. Paul Kristoff Conley, 41, of 5564 Kendrick Lane, Burke, was taken into custody and transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal of blood/breath test. His bond was set at $2000.

10911 Main Street / 7-Eleven Parking Lot – On October 7 at 12:34 AM the vehicle owner reported that sometime after 11:30 PM on October 6 unknown person(s) had stolen his skateboard from the back seat of his convertible left with the top down in the parking lot.

North Street / Chain Bridge Road – On October 7 at 1:16 AM an officer who had conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for violating a “no turn on red” sign determined that the driver was intoxicated. Alexander German Yanez, 33, of 4917 Americana Drive, Annandale, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and his bond was set at $4000.

3700 Block of Old Lee Highway – On October 8 at 11:13 PM an officer checking on an occupied vehicle stopped with the motor running on a driveway leading to police headquarters determined that the driver was intoxicated. Katherine Marie Bouwkamp, 32, of 2515 Weisman Road, Silver Spring, Maryland, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal of blood/breath test. Her bond was set at $1500.
