Veterans Day 2019: Ceremony, What's Open, Closed In Fairfax City
Veterans Day honors all who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Here's what's open and closed for the federal holiday.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA —Veterans Day is Monday, and for anyone wishing to honor those who served in the U.S. armed forces, there will be ceremonies throughout the Fairfax City area. However, the holiday will affect the hours and schedules of various area services and offices.
In Fairfax City, the American Legion Post 177 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8469 will host a public Veterans Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11 on the City Hall Portico, 10455 Armstrong St.

Fairfax City Offices: City government offices will closed on Veterans Day.
Fairfax Schools: Schools will be open Nov. 11.

Post office and mail: Post offices will be closed Nov. 11, and no mail will be delivered.
Local and state courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Veterans Day.
CUE Bus: Service will run on a modified weekday schedule.
Metrorail: The Metro system will be open 5 a.m.-11:30 p.m. and operate on a Saturday schedule.
Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday and supplemental schedule on Nov. 11. See bus timetables.
Historic Sites and Museums: The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Libraries: The City of Fairfax Regional Library will be closed Oct. 14.
Trash collection: City trash pickup will not run on Nov. 11. Monday and Tuesday routes will be picked up on Tuesday. Other municipal and private haulers may work on a different schedule.
Landfills/Recycling: The Property Yard Recycling Center, I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill will be closed Monday.
