Vocal Arts of Fairfax Presents Their Inaugural Season
Established in July 2024, VAF's founding principal is harmonizing lives and inspiring communities.

The Board of Directors announces the establishment of Vocal Arts of Fairfax, a new choral arts group. They will make their presence known as they present their inaugural season of exciting performances in December, March and May.
“We are thrilled to bring our singers to the community and expose audiences to this chorus of wonderful voices,” says Linda LaMonda, Chair of the Board of Directors. “All of the effort to establish the Vocal Arts of Fairfax will be appreciated as soon as their first note is sung.”
The group will consist of The Vocal Arts Ensemble (VAE), a non-auditioned choir of 135 singers, and the Vocal Arts Singers, a smaller auditioned group of 20 from the VAE. Both will be conducted by Michael Ehrlich, a familiar and respected name in the performing arts community. He also serves as the Artist Director.

“It’s been a dream of mine to bring unity to the community through song and this is a perfect means to realize that goal,” says Michael Ehrlich. “We intend to be a welcoming space for members and friends and hope audiences will be entertained and inspired.”
They will host a Spooktacular Launch Party for the community on Oct. 27 and their first performance will be Sounds of the Season, a celebration of joy, on December 8.

Vocal Arts of Fairfax serves and enriches the community through accessible and inclusive choral music experiences, provides high quality music education to Choral Members and to the public and conducts charitable outreach and inclusive collaborations.

With thirty-four years of experience as a choral director, directing six ensembles from beginning through advanced levels, including tenor/bass, treble, and mixed choirs, Michael Ehrlich is well-positioned for his next chapter as Artistic Director of the Vocal Arts Ensemble. Through the years he has held countless leadership roles and his legacy lives strong at W.T. Woodson High School. From 1988 to 2018 he worked at their choral program, starting with 35 students and growing to over 260 students. Under his direction, the six choirs at Woodson consistently received superior ratings at the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) district choral festival.
He has a master’s in music education and choral conducting from Florida State University and was a saxophonist with the Air Force Band of the East.
Michael Ehrlich will lead the Vocal Arts of Fairfax on a musical journey that encompasses a variety of genres, including traditional choral literature, American folksongs and spirituals, music of different cultures, vocal jazz, and Broadway.
