FAIRFAX, VA (March 17, 2017) – Volunteer Fairfax, Chairman Sharon Bulova and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors invite the public to attend the 2017 Fairfax County Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards. This year marks the 25th presentation of the awards ceremony which will takes place at the Waterford at Springfield, on Friday, April 21 from 8-10am. Tickets are now available at www.volunteerfairfax.org.
The Awards honor individuals, groups, and organizations which have given outstanding volunteer service. Each year, the awards ceremony welcomes nearly 500 area supporters of volunteerism and leaders in government, business, education and nonprofits. Every year attendees experience the stories of selfless service that contributes to our quality of life in Fairfax County.
At last year’s award program, we honored Mount Vernon District Resident Ron Fitzsimmons for launching Alice’s Kids, a financial assistance program that anonymously provides items for children that they cannot afford, be it a class ring, new eyeglasses, or SAT prep courses. Join us on April 21 for more thoughtful stories like this one.
