Weather service warns motorists of snow covered roads, limited visibility for Wednesday commute.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m Wednesday for several communities in the region, including Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, Leesburg, Ashburn.
Motorists should be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, according to the weather service.

Accumulation is expected to reach 1 inch to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts. According to the NWS, snow is expected to develop early Wednesday morning and continue throughout the daytime, with the heaviest snow in the late morning and mid afternoon.
“Temperatures will likely be below freezing Wednesday morning, allowing snow to accumulate on roadways and other surfaces,” according to the advisory. “This will result in hazardous driving conditions during the morning commute.”
The weather service also warns that slippery conditions could persist into the late afternoon.
